All you need is some left over orange peel like I had after making my morning smoothie
Slice it into thin strips and boil in water twice. The first time for 5 minutes and then change the water and simmer for 30 minutes.
After this drain the water into a bowl and use it to dissolve the sugar. As a guide use 100g of sugar for every 100ml of water.
Once the sugar is dissolved add the orange strips to the pan an simmer for another 30 minutes, let it cool in the syrup before placing on an oven preheated to it’s lowest temperature for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle some sugar over some baking
parchment and toss the strips of orange in the sugar a few at a time. Leave them to dry at room temperature for about 1 hour.
Great to eat on their own or added to other dishes. Store in a cool, dry place for 6-8 weeks.
I am sure they won’t last that long!!!
